How Tukxi Began
Tukxi started in Madeira in 2014 — born from the belief that the best way to discover a place is through the eyes of someone who grew up there. Our founding philosophy has remained unchanged from day one: we believe in private tours only, never combining groups of strangers, and always placing you with local guides who know the hidden viewpoints, the real stories, and the secret spots that don't appear in conventional guidebooks.
As we grew, we made the commitment to go electric. Today our Lisbon fleet is fully electric, and in Madeira an electric tuk tuk is available on request. Electric tuk tuks are quieter, cleaner, and better suited to the residential streets of historic Lisbon. We wanted to protect the quiet integrity of the neighborhoods we pass through, rather than add to their traffic noise and emissions.
Following our success on the island, we expanded our operations to Lisbon — bringing the exact same philosophy to Portugal's historic capital. Today, we operate across two extraordinary destinations, united by a single, consistent standard of experience. We ensure that your sightseeing journey is never rushed, fully private, and completely memorable.

Madeira Island — Where the Atlantic Meets the Volcanic Interior
Madeira is unlike anywhere else in the Atlantic — volcanic peaks, ancient laurel forests, and cliffs that drop 580 metres straight to the ocean. Our Madeira operation has been running private tuk tuk tours from Funchal since 2014, covering the city, the coast, the mountains, and the hidden villages most visitors never find. Nine routes, all private, all led by guides born and raised on the island.
Lisbon — Seven Hills, Medieval Alleys, and the Atlantic at the End of Every Street
Lisbon rewards those who go beyond the obvious — into Alfama's cobbled lanes, up to the hilltop miradouros where locals actually go, west to Belém where Portugal once stood at the edge of the known world. Our Lisbon operation runs six private tuk tuk routes across the city, guided by multilingual local guides who know every mural, every viewpoint, and every story worth telling. Private tours only, fully electric, and never rushed.
